The video showcases a selection of footage and digital models of VR video games The Idol Reveal: From Infatuation to the Mysterious (2021-ongoing) from the project The Idol Reveal (2021-ongoing). This VR video game is a set of spiritual field visions about Idol worship developed and based on my essay The Subject Exploration and Artistic Practice in Idol Worship (2021-2022) in the same project.

 

It contains three separate scenes: "Absolute infatuation", "Relative infatuation", and "Mysterious order". These scenes depict the three conscious stages of Idol worship and the delicate experience and complex inner imagination in the process, filled with revelatory mythological images, complicated totems, poetic idol images, sculptures and plants that symbolise energy. What they constitute is not only a surreal dream utopia but also a transcendent universe that produces illusory images from the real phenomenal world. The whole work shows how I integrate with the "world" I live in, how I use "giant whimsy" to construct a rich and beautiful consciousness practice, and how to carry out the feedback and loop between the subject and the object in this invisible and boundless symbolic space.

 

Note: The work is divided into a VR game version and a video version, both of which are being continuously updated, with the game currently updated to 1.0 (beta version not publicly available) and the video work updated to 1.0 (not currently available online)
